Stockholmers love to be the first to find a new place. And Stockholm is small, so when a restaurant opens in no-name premises at an out-of-the-way address, hoping people will talk, it turns out to be the most brilliant marketing scheme in Swedish restaurant
history. Two large bars and a big restaurant in a whitewashed space that formerly housed a china factory.

ANNAKHAN
Riddargatan 12
tel: +46 8 440 30 00
City is full of cheap Indian eateries, but none of them can count the Royal Family among their regulars. Annakhan is the sole exception, a gourmet kitchen with a position right between Pakistan, India and Sweden. Only in the peacefully pastel interior of Annakhan can you see the royals eat Indian crossover. And yet others come here just for the bar, to mingle with the in-crowd.

LJUNGGREN
Götgatan 36
tel: +46 8 640 75 65
An all-purpose Asian has taken over a corner of what, for Södermalm, is a very fashionable mall, Bruno. It’s a perfect location for an austerely decorated far eastern restaurant. Södermalm’s most stylish couples stream to restaurateur Mikael Ljunggren’s space to share sushi and sashimi after shopping.

NOX
Grev Turegatan 30
In May, Robert Hållstrand, the man behind Kharma, will open the doors of a restaurant that has been in the rumor mill since fall of 2004. They have raided the competition to get the best cooks, cocktail experts and wait staff for a crossover kitchen. The space is a renowned two-story relic of the IT boom. The name is taken from Fort Knox. Expect people to be digging tunnels to get in.
