Fashion week at the Nordic Light Hotel

Stockholm Fashion Week at Nordic Light Hotel

Fashion week 11-17 August at the Nordic Light Hotel will be dominated by the textile installation created for the hotel by fashion designer Diana Orving. Diana Orving will also be unveiling her spring/summer 2009 collection at the hotel on Wednesday.

Furthermore, FutureLab and the Nordic Light Hotel invite you to FutureDesignDays’ seminar, “Next Textile”, which will examine and discuss tomorrow’s textile innovations and their commercial consequences.

This is the Nordic Light Hotel’s third year as the official hotel for +46, the progressive fashion fair, and Light Bar & Lounge will be transformed into a champagne and whisky bar throughout the week, in cooperation with Moët-Hennesey.

Activities at Nordic Light Hotel during Stockholm Fashion Week 2008:

11 August – Diana Orving, one of Sweden’s most prominent young design talents, creates a textile installation at the Nordic Light Hotel. Using light materials in various textures and levels of transparency, such as cotton fabric, tulle and chiffon, Diana will create hanging rooms and spaces for hotel guests and the general public to explore. They will be both small and large, inaccessible and inviting.
The installation is open to the public and will remain at the Nordic Light Hotel until the end of October.

12 August – Next Textile, FutureDesignDays and the Nordic Light Hotel invite you to a seminar, which will discuss textiles of the future. The textiles of the future are intelligent, interactive, and unlikely to be invented in a nearby western country. On stage we will have the courageous, the innovative and the slightly quirky, who will discuss trends, opportunities and their consequences. If you want to attend you can apply at

13 August – Diana Orving unveils her spring/summer 2009 collection. The Collection, “Spaces”, has been created alongside the installation that shares its name and which premières during the week.
Diana Orving has become particularly well-known for her drapings, cuttings and silhouettes in subdued colour ranges, as well as for her unusual displays. By invitation only.

11 – 17 August
– Fashion bar at the Nordic Bar & Lounge. The hotel is working with Moët-Hennesey during the August fashion week, and has come up with a special drinks menu. Guests will get the chance to try exciting drinks based on the whisky Glenmorangie, but more traditional, champagne-based Moët-Hennesey drinks will also be on the menu.
