FutureDesignDays lights up the darkness

Nordic Light Hotel is main partner to the next FutureDesignDays event that will take place on 4 February.  The theme, LIGHT NOW, will spotlight lighting design from all angles and perspectives.

LIGHT NOW is FutureDesignDays’s first happening since the concept was changed from one big event to a series of fast, intensive, high-impact events. LIGHT NOW will take place at the Oscar Theatre, Stockholm, on 4 February. The guest speakers  –  lighting designer Vesa Honkonen, industrial designer James Irvine, lighting fitting manufacturer Magnus Wästberg and Professor Jan Ejhed – will talk about light and unsuitable light.

“LIGHT NOW will look at the importance of light to our personal spaces, urban development, architecture, working life, art, etc.  Other subjects to be discussed include light pollution and the new digital opportunities of lighting design,” says Christian Alenius, one of the founders of FutureDesignDays.

LIGHT NOW will provide an afternoon of seminars and a panel debate, with the speakers joined by Marnick Smessaert of Belgian company Dark. The event will be rounded off by Design Night - food, drink and mingling – in the lobby of the Nordic Light Hotel. The moderator throughout will be Marcus Fairs, former editor of Icon Magazine and currently a popular blogger (alter ego, Dezeen).
