Light Reflections - Iittala and Nordic Light Hotel team up to create a light installation

Nordic Light Hotel and Iittala are both companies that have found inspiration in the Nordic light. These two companies have now teamed up to create the installation, “Light Reflections”, featuring reflections of the Nordic light in Iittala’s coloured glass. The installation will be on display from 24 August in Nordic Light Hotel’s lobby, and will be included as part of the Formex Friends programme during the last week of August. The installation is open to the public until the end of October.

The Nordic light leaves a lasting impression on everyone. The considerable contrasts between the light June nights and the dusky December days. The northern lights, the rapid movement that can appear on autumn nights, are fascinating and inspiring, and arouse our curiosity.  Our light has enthused designers and artists throughout all ages.

Nordic Light Hotel and Iittala are now joining forces to create an installation inspired by the Nordic light. The focus of the installation is the proud Lantern, designed by Harri Koskinen. Koskinen describes the lantern as “light placed on a pedestal”, and the experience is reinforced visually with video projections, created especially for this installation by Vidiots. Shimmering gold detail, featuring rugs from Bolon, capture and reflect the glow in the light.

The installation is on display in Nordic Light Hotel’s lobby from den 24 August - 31 October.
