This June sees the opening of “Light Shop” in the lobby of the Nordic Light Hotel, a gallery open during the summer (until August 10) where everything is for sale. The hotel’s design team and architect Caroline Heiroth have carefully selected Swedish designer products and modern handicraft items. The shop features everything from furniture to jewellery. The result is a collection of modern souvenirs for the design-conscious traveller.

“Everyone who likes our hotel will like what’s on offer in Light Shop. The idea is to offer our guests a taster of what Sweden can offer in the way of design from the moment they check in. We have over ten thousand foreign visitors during the summer months, and as Stockholm’s designer hotel we are keen to act as a shop window for Swedish design,” says Anders Johansson, CEO of Nordic Hotels in Stockholm AB.

In Light Shop, the visitor can find, for example, the Libri shelf from Swedese, which premiered at the Stockholm Furniture Fair and has been nominated for this year’s Design S/Swedish Design Award. There are also sunglasses designed by Form Us With Love, Mia E Göransson’s fragile birch ceramic candlestick, Skultuna’s “Barbara” bottle opener, designed by Thomas Sandell, and huge iron dishes from Hemslöjdsprodukter.

Skepphult’s new “V” bike will also be on display. Hotel guests will also be given the opportunity to borrow a “V” bike and discover Stockholm in the summer under their own steam.

The shop will be located in the lobby at the Nordic Light Hotel on Vasaplan up until the middle of August.
