Satu Andersson - new visionary at Nordic Light Hotel and Nordic Sea Hotel in Stockholm

Satu Andersson is taking over responsibility as General Manager for a total of 542 hotel rooms at Vasaplan in Stockholm city. The centrally-located Nordic Light Hotel and Nordic Sea Hotel will be celebrating their tenth anniversary in January 2011. Satu will be taking the hotels forward into the next decade with big plans for developing their individual concepts.

”I am looking forward to further refining the concepts for these two exciting hotels in such a strategic location in Stockholm. The business is just in the process of adapting to the ISO 14001 environmental management system alongside our Swan certification. The lighting system at the Nordic Light Hotel is being upgraded to LED, which will save energy and give us smarter control for creating spectacular lighting experiences. LED TV has been installed and is also due to be put in at the Nordic Sea Hotel as part of an extensive renovation, starting in the winter. The Nordic Sea Hotel will have its image completely revamped in conjunction with the overall renovation,” says Satu.

Satu is currently hotel manager and operations supervisor at the Nordic Light Hotel and will be taking up the post of General Manager from the start of November 2010. Her vast experience in the hotel industry encompasses top positions within sales, product development and operations within several hotel chains in Sweden.

”With all these exciting projects we are looking forward to being able to offer our guests even more unique hotel experiences. Next year we will also be focusing on becoming even more attractive as an employer. The employee concept - On Stage – is an important change in our work and I see it as an incredible advantage to take us into the future!” continues Satu.

In 2001, Nordic Hotels opened these two establishments: Nordic Sea Hotel – with 367 rooms and the ABSOLUT ICEBAR STOCKHOLM, and Nordic Light Hotel – a member of Design Hotels, with 175 rooms on Vasagatan in Stockholm.

This year the Nordic Light Hotel was named Sweden’s top boutique hotel for the third successive year by World Travel Awards 2010. Over the years the hotel has excelled with its lighting design and has become an arena for a series of different design events in Stockholm. The lobby features several different guest installations over the course of a year, with everything from established designers to those completely new on the scene, all of whom work closely with the hotel’s own design team.

The Nordic Sea Hotel was the first hotel in the world to offer a permanent ice bar all year round. Since its opening in 2002, ABSOLUT ICEBAR STOCKHOLM has offered spectacular ice design and a constant indoor temperature of minus five.

Nordic Hotels & Resorts

The hotels are part of the Nordic Hotels & Resorts group (www.nordichotels.se), which currently unites eight unique brands under one umbrella organisation. These include the Yasuragi Hasseludden, Selma Spa, Stenungsbaden Yacht Club, Copperhill Mountain Lodge and Farris Bad in Norway. The group is owned by Choice Hotels Scandinavia, but does not form part of the hotel chain.
