Legendary dog Snoopy is celebrating his 60th birthday with the installation ”Being Joe Cool” at design hotel Nordic Light Hotel in Stockholm.

Joining him in the celebration are a number of well-known faces who have been given the opportunity to put their personal stamp on a very own Snoopy-statuette. These will later be auctioned out in support of anti-bullying organization Friends. Among those who have accepted the creative challenge are fashion designer Lars Wallin, glass designer Åsa Jungnelius and musician Dregen.

"Being Joe Cool"

The exhibit, produced by Rekostylisterna, is spread throughout the entire Nordic Light Hotel: from the heart of the lobby up to the seventh floor where room #710 has been transformed into an exclusive ”Joe Cool-suite”. Even such details as room keys, the hotel staff’s uniforms and menus have been inspired by Snoopy. On display in the lobby are a series of unique Snoopy statuettes, each one personally styled by a well-known artist, designer or creator. The statuettes will be auctioned out later this fall in partnership with Bukowskis. All proceeds will go directly to Friends, in support of their work against bullying. 

”It feels important to get involved in this project”, says Mange Schmidt, one of the participating artists. ”Bullying is a scary virus that grips hold of you and is hard to get rid of, both for bullies and their victims. No one should have to experience being bullied for who they are or how they look or any other reason.”

The design installation ”Being Joe Cool” is on from August 11th until November 14th at Nordic Light Hotel in Stockholm. The auction, held by Bukowskis, is open for bids on www.bukowskis.se and the statuettes go under the hammer on October 13th at Nordic Light Hotel.

Snoopy’s 60th anniversary celebration in Sweden is a partnership between Plus Licens, Nordic Light Hotel, Rekostylisterna, Friends and Bukowskis.
