Stay cool in Snoopy's suite at Nordic Light Hotel

Stay cool in Snoopy’s specially designed hotel room, the “Joe Cool Suite” at Nordic Light Hotel in Stockholm. The legendary beagle has moved into the design hotel this fall to celebrate his 60st birthday and welcomes all VIPs (very Important Pups) to share his personal suite.

Baseball, friendship and eying chicks by the water fountain are some of Snoopy’s and his alter-ego Joe Cool’s many interests. In the “Joe Cool Suite”, room number 710, hotel guests are allowed to step into the carton character’s very own, personal world. The whole seventh floor has also been decorated with a number of mini- Snoopy-installations.

Snoopy’s alter-ego Joe Cool was a character created by Charles M. Schulz in the early seventies, when the Californian surf-slacker culture reached its peak. The character is a laid-back, individualist version of Snoopy that goes his own way in life, without hurrying to get there. The interior design of the suite, created by Rekostylisterna, is inspired by that era and by Snoopy’s many clever, insightful quotes.

”- My aim has been to create a comfy dog house for Snoopy during his visit to Stockholm, containing everything that he likes”, says Sanna Åkerlund Gebeyehu, Creative Producer at Rekostylisterna. “The room has a cool retro-vibe with a modern touch. I collected all the things that Snoopy loves, for example birds, baseball cards and flowers, but I gave them a more grown-up and sleek framing. I also found it important to avoid the hotel atmosphere, even if the room provides all the comforts a hotel guest requires. My favourite features in the room are the flower table that creates a cozy, pleasant atmosphere and the desk top where guests are allowed to scribble their own birthday salutations to Snoopy”.

Snoopy’s suite is a part of the exhibition ”Being Joe Cool” that celebrates Snoopy’s 60st anniversary in Sweden. The exhibition runs until October 31st and is spread all over the Nordic Light Hotel: from the hub in the lobby up to the seventh floor. Joining the celebrations are also 14 well-known Swedish creators who have been given the opportunity to put their personal stamp on a very own Joe Cool-statuette. These will be auctioned out on October 13th, in support of anti-bullying organization Friends.
